Our Story

SCROLL DOWN

Our Story

We are a church family made up of imperfect people whose common ground is found in wanting to serve the Lord, each other, and the world.

The Gospel of John Sums up our mission well:

“Jesus became flesh and moved into the neighborhood.” Dwelling Place Roanoke desires to not just do church, but to move into the neighborhood, become the presence of God to the people and experience the transformational power of God.

Dwelling Place Roanoke Pastors

Dave & Joy Fuller

David is a graduate of Virginia Tech and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Joy is a graduate of Texas Christian University and is currently working on her Masters of Religion in Middle Eastern Studies. They have been married for 33 years and enjoy life with their 3 children and their spouses. They served for 10 years planting churches and ministries in various inner-cities in the United States. David then served as youth and missions pastor at a local church. During this time they started an international missions organizations, Answering the Call, whose focus was to come alongside people who were suffering in difficult situations due to conflict or persecution. After years of ministry, both domestic and foreign, David and Joy felt led to start a church in their own community. Their vision was a church family who loved one another well and would together live out Jesus’ mandate for the Church. Dwelling Place Roanoke began in the home of David and Joy in early 2012. Their passion is to see the Church rise to her full potential in Christ, praying as Paul did in Ephesians, “I pray that the eyes of our heart may be enlightened, so that we will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe….”

Our Leadership Team

Abbe and Jon Gudeman

Bill and Jane Jacobsen

Jon and Abbe have been happily married since 1993.  They have three amazing children--Joshua, Lily, and Sophia. They have seen Gods love and healing in their own lives and have a passion to share His truth with others through relationships here in Virginia and overseas. They are so thankful for their Dwelling Place family.

Bill and Jane were married in 1984.  They have two children Jake and Annie and a son in law, Cam Florin.  The Jacobsens moved from Richmond in 2006, where they had lived for 20 years.  They were very active in Third Church, an evangelical presbyterian church.  Bill is a Vice President with Carilion and is the Administrator of Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital. Their friendship with the Fullers began in 2011 and they felt called to help David & Joy start Dwelling Place in early 2012.  Both Jane and Bill love the Lord, serve at the church, and also in their Franklin County Community.

Lynne and Larry Florin

Dave and Martie Byrd

Larry and Lynne were high school sweethearts in New Jersey and were married and moved to Roanoke (where Lynne attended college) in 1982.  They have two adult children, Cameron and Emma, and a beautiful new daughter-in-law, Annie.  Larry is a self-employed entrepreneurial type and Lynne previously served on staff at two local churches before the Lord nudged them both to help launch a new church (Dwelling Place) with David and Joy in the living room of the Fuller’s home.  Larry is the administrative partner (Lynne describes him as type A and herself as type C-) and both feel led to evangelism and loving on those outside of the church walls.  They started and participate in a prayer and healing ministry called HomeBase that serves at FloydFest, a local music festival. soon...

We are transplanted New Englanders who love life in Roanoke! We have 5 mostly grown children and celebrated 25 years of marriage this year. We both love teaching God's word and love our DP family.

Worship Leaders

Jordan and Robin McLamb

Jordan and Robin have been married in 2012 and moved to Roanoke in 2013. Jordan is from Cary, North Carolina and Robin is from Toronto, Ontario. There is no greater power or profound mystery in the universe than God's love. God demonstrated his love in its fullest form for us on the cross. Our goal in corporate worship is to glimpse the depth of God's love and to offer a response to Him. It is more than music. It is more than words. It is more than prayer. It cannot be achieved by one person or one band. Rather, corporate revelation and response needs an entire creative and vulnerable church body - offering songs, words, and prayers together, as one. As leaders, Robin and Jordan are passionate about doing all they can think of to facilitate a corporate, creative, empowered, and vulnerable worshiping body.

IF YOU'D LIKE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT DWELLING PLACE WORSHIP OR WOULD LIKE TO ASK JORDAN OR ROBIN A QUESTION EMAIL THEM AT JORDANKMCLAMB@GMAIL.COM
