Our Story

SCROLL DOWN

Our Story

We are a church family made up of imperfect people whose common ground is found in wanting to serve the Lord, each other, and the world.

Jesus became flesh and moved into the neighborhood.

our mission is inspired by John 1:14. Dwelling Place Roanoke desires to not just do church, but to move into the neighborhood, become the presence of God to the people and experience the transformational power of God.

David and Joy Fuller

David is a graduate of Virginia Tech and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Joy is a graduate of Texas Christian University and is currently working on her Masters of Religion in Middle Eastern Studies. They have been married for 33 years and enjoy life with their 3 children and their spouses. They served for 10 years planting churches and ministries in various inner-cities in the United States. David then served as youth and missions pastor at a local church. During this time they started an international missions organizations, Answering the Call, whose focus was to come alongside people who were suffering in difficult situations due to conflict or persecution.

After years of ministry, both domestic and foreign, David and Joy felt led to start a church in their own community.Their vision was a church family who loved one another well and would together live out Jesus’ mandate for the Church. Dwelling Place Roanoke began in the home of David and Joy in early 2012. Their passion is to see the Church rise to her full potential in Christ, praying as Paul did in Ephesians, “I pray that the eyes of our heart may be enlightened, so that we will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe....”

Beliefs

Beliefs

Our Beliefs

  • We believe there is one true God who is eternal King, Creator and Redeemer of all that is. He is perfectly holy, just and loving. He has revealed Himself to be eternally self-existent, one being in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Colossians 2:9-10).

  • We believe God so loved the world that He sent His son Jesus, not to Judge the world, but that the world would be saved through Him (John 3:16-17).

  • We believe Jesus was crucified for our sins, died, was buried, resurrected and ascended into Heaven and is alive today in the presence of God the Father and His people (Acts 2:32-33).

  • We believe Jesus is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6) and true and complete salvation for man is found in Him alone
    (Acts 4:12).

  • We believe if we confess our sin and repent, Jesus is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9) giving us new life in Him (2 Corinthians 5:17).

  • We believe upon salvation Jesus fills us and empowers us with His Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38).

  • We believe the Holy Spirit convicts, regenerates, justifies and adopts us as we enter the Kingdom of God as His sons and daughters (John 16:8-15).

  • We believe our hope is found in the power of the resurrection of Jesus which is the same power that now resides in us who believe (Ephesians 2:18-23).

  • We believe all Scripture is infallible, authoritative and inspired by God and is profitable to us for teaching, reproof, correction and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16).

  • We believe that those who put their faith in Christ Jesus are one body in Him (Galatians 3:26,28).

  • We believe the church exists to carry on the ministry of Jesus Christ and further advance His Kingdom preaching and living the good news of God’s love, disciple the nations, baptizing and teaching them to love and obey God (Matthew 28:18-20).

  • We believe in the unity of believers. It is our prayer that unity be perfected among the entire body of Christ such as Jesus spoke of in John 17:23, in order that the world may know He was sent by God and that God loved the world even as He loved His son, Jesus.
